Complete turf care

We offer complete turf care programs to maintain your lawn’s color and vigor and minimize weeds throughout the growing season. The applications are seasonally adjusted to your lawn’s needs and are made about 8 to 12 weeks apart. Our trained lawn technicians will work with you to maintain the quality lawn you expect.

Granular Fertilization

A good lawn needs adequate nutrients for good growth. Lawns need regular fertilization to keep the grass growing and weeds out. T.B.I. uses the finest controlled release granular product to maintain a beautiful lawn year round.

Seeding and Slicing

We use a custom blend of seed for the northern Virginia area. A machine is used to slice grooves in the thatch and implant the seed into the soil.

Weed Control

Weeds can simply be defined as unwanted plants or plants growing out-of-place. Our pesticide usage is only done on an “as needed” basis, thus reducing any environmental concerns.

Dethatching

Dethatching involves the removal of the matted layer of dead and decaying plant material between growing grass and the soil.

Soil Testing

A soil test will be done on new customer lawns. The results of this professional test will guide us on how to best modify our applications to correct any nutrient deficiencies.

Lawn Renovations

A renovation would involve killing the undesirable grasses with a nonselective herbicide. The lawn would then be completely overseeded and aerated.

Insect Control

Applications are targeted for surface insects. This includes control of the following lawn pests: chinch bug, sod web worm, bill bug and other lawn pests.

Core Aeration

Core aeration is the removal of small cores of soil to allow air, moisture and fertilizer down to the root zone. A core aerator will pull one to two inch plugs of soil from the ground. These plugs are deposited on the soil’s surface where they will break down.

Liming

Lime is applied to the soil of lawns to increase the soil pH. Soil pH, a measure of the soil’s acidity or alkalinity, can directly influence the vigor and quality of your lawn.
